Best Fit For

Homeowners near Wichita, west Wichita, Maize, Goddard, Andale, Bel Aire, Andover, Derby, and surrounding areas who want to update a kitchen, laundry room, powder bath, and hall bathroom together for a more cohesive main-floor remodel

Project Overview

Wichita Home Works completed this 124th Court kitchen, laundry room, half bathroom, and hallway bathroom remodel in Wichita, Kansas for homeowners who wanted a more functional and cohesive update across several connected spaces.

This project was more than a kitchen refresh. It included a full kitchen cabinet replacement, new island layout, new countertops, updated backsplash, new LVP flooring through several rooms, lighting upgrades, plumbing updates, laundry room cabinetry, a half bathroom refresh, and a hallway bathroom remodel with a new Onyx shower system and updated storage.

The project contract identified the remodel as a kitchen, laundry room, half bath, and hallway bathroom project at 3329 N. 124th Ct. W. in Wichita, with a total project cost of $157,830.24.

The finished remodel has a warm transitional style with natural wood cabinetry, soft quartz movement, a glossy herringbone backsplash, updated lighting, brushed nickel and stainless finishes, and durable wood-look flooring. The white oak cabinetry in Brown Sepia stain gives the home warmth, while the quartz, tile, lighting, and improved layout make the connected spaces feel cleaner and more current.

The Homeowner’s Vision

The homeowners wanted to improve the most functional areas of the home without treating each room as a separate, unrelated project.

The kitchen needed a more useful cabinet layout, a larger and better-equipped island, improved pantry storage, new countertops, updated lighting, new sink and faucet selections, better backsplash outlets, and a more finished range hood area.

The laundry room needed storage and workspace. The half bathroom needed an updated vanity, countertop, mirror, light, faucet, and accessories. The hallway bathroom needed a more complete remodel with a new shower pan, Onyx shower walls, vanity, linen cabinet, toilet topper, flooring, countertop, shower glass, and brushed nickel accessories.

By completing these spaces together, Wichita Home Works was able to create a more consistent look across the kitchen, dining room, hallway, laundry room, half bath, and hall bathroom.

Scope of Work

Wichita Home Works coordinated the project from home protection and demolition through mechanical rough-ins, cabinetry, countertops, tile, flooring, shower installation, final accessories, photography, and closeout.

The project included:

Home Protection and Demolition

The remodel began with home protection, material staging, appliance removal, cabinet removal, flooring removal, and selective demolition.

Existing floor vents, refrigerator, dishwasher, range, washing machine, dryer, kitchen reverse osmosis system, and reusable baseboard were removed and protected as needed. The kitchen faucet, sink, backsplash, countertop, drywall behind the backsplash, island cabinets, perimeter cabinets, kitchen desk, island wall framing, island pendant lighting, laundry room wall cabinet and shelf, half bathroom vanity, half bathroom top and faucet, bathroom and laundry baseboard, and selected casing were removed.

The existing fireplace mantel, hearth, and cabinet next to the fireplace were left in place, allowing the remodel to focus on the kitchen, laundry, bathrooms, hallway, and connected flooring areas.

Kitchen Layout and Cabinetry

The kitchen received a major cabinet and layout upgrade.

Wichita Home Works installed Koch Classic half-overlay Prairie door-style cabinetry in white oak with Brown Sepia stain. The kitchen included perimeter upper cabinets, an appliance garage, an upper wine glass storage cabinet, lower wine bottle storage, island cabinets, pantry cabinets, and matching crown molding on the upper and pantry cabinets.

The island was designed for better function. It included rollout trays, a trash rollout, and a 24-inch microwave cabinet. The pantry cabinets included five rollout trays each, giving the kitchen stronger storage and better access than standard fixed shelving.

The cabinet package included plywood construction and soft-close doors and drawers where applicable, creating a more durable and comfortable daily-use kitchen.

Custom Range Hood

A custom red oak range hood was built for the kitchen.

The hood was designed with a shaker-style front and crown molding, giving the cooking wall a more finished architectural presence. The hood was paired with a Broan BBN2 Series 30-inch built-in powerpack insert with LED light in stainless steel.

This detail helped the kitchen feel more custom and intentional, especially with the natural wood cabinetry and vertical herringbone backsplash.

Kitchen Countertops and Sink

The kitchen received Cambria New Quay 3CM quartz countertops with a 1/4-inch double roundover edge profile.

A Karran 60/40 low-divide quartz composite kitchen sink in Concrete was installed, along with a Karran decorative disposal flange and basket strainer in Concrete. The kitchen also included a Delta Coranto single-handle pull-down faucet in Arctic Stainless and a Delta Transitional beverage faucet in Arctic Stainless.

The quartz, composite sink, and stainless faucet finishes created a practical and polished work area for everyday cooking and cleanup.

Kitchen Backsplash

The kitchen backsplash became one of the most visible design features in the remodel.

Wichita Home Works prepared the backsplash walls with new drywall where needed, then installed Virginia Tile Costa Clara Beach Sand Glossy 3×12 tile from the countertops to the bottom of the cabinets in a vertical herringbone pattern. Pewter grout and Schluter Trendline Jolly Cream edging completed the installation.

The vertical herringbone layout gives the kitchen movement and texture while keeping the color palette soft and warm.

Kitchen Lighting and Electrical Updates

The kitchen and dining areas received a major lighting and electrical update.

The electrical scope included new undercabinet plug molding for backsplash outlets, new LED undercabinet lighting on a switch, new backsplash switches and covers, an outlet in the island for the microwave location, rough-in for the new range location, range hood wiring, a pantry outlet, six LED puck lights over the new island, four LED puck lights in the dining area, two island pop-up outlets, and LED pantry lighting on an automatic sensor.

These updates helped the kitchen function better for cooking, serving, charging devices, entertaining, and everyday use.

Drywall and Ceiling Work

The kitchen included drywall and ceiling finish work.

The backsplash framing was prepared for new drywall, including shimming where needed. New lightweight drywall was installed at the backsplash and wall and ceiling patch areas. The drywall was taped, mudded, and smooth finished. The existing kitchen ceiling was skim coated and received knockdown texture.

These behind-the-scenes steps helped the new cabinetry, tile, lighting, and finishes look clean and complete.

Flooring Through Connected Spaces

The remodel included new flooring in the kitchen, dining room, hallway, laundry room, half bathroom, and hallway bathroom.

The flooring scope included subfloor preparation, light leveling as needed, and installation of customer-supplied Timber Land Cognac rigid core luxury vinyl flooring. In the kitchen, dining room, hallway, laundry room, and half bath, the flooring was installed running parallel to the front door. In the hallway bathroom, it was installed running parallel to the bathroom vanity.

Using the same flooring through multiple connected rooms helped the remodel feel cohesive instead of broken up room by room.

Laundry Room Remodel

The laundry room was updated with new cabinetry, storage, and finish details.

Wichita Home Works installed two 24-inch Koch Classic white oak upper cabinets in Brown Sepia stain, a custom oak shelf with a galvanized closet rod, and a 30-inch lower cabinet with a drawer and double doors. Matching crown molding was included, along with plywood cabinet construction and soft-close doors and drawers.

The laundry room also received Cambria New Quay quartz on the laundry cabinet and matching Rok brushed nickel cabinet hardware.

This gave the laundry room better storage, hanging space, counter function, and a finish style that matches the kitchen.

Half Bathroom Refresh

The half bathroom was refreshed as part of the main-floor remodel.

The work included removal of the existing vanity faucet, vanity top, vanity cabinet, towel bar, and vanity light. A new 27-inch Koch Classic white oak vanity in Brown Sepia stain was installed, along with Cambria New Quay quartz, a white rectangular undermount sink, Delta Lahara stainless faucet, Kichler Brinley brushed nickel vanity light, Panasonic Whisper Mighty exhaust fan, brushed nickel mirror, Delta Lahara towel ring and tissue holder, and Rok brushed nickel cabinet pull.

The half bathroom now coordinates with the kitchen and laundry room through shared cabinetry, quartz, flooring, and hardware selections.

Hallway Bathroom Remodel

The hallway bathroom received a more detailed remodel.

The existing toilet was saved for reuse, while the vanity, vanity top, mirror, vanity light, backsplash, tile floor, underlayment, tub/shower kit, shower faucet, towel accessories, and related finishes were removed. Backing was added for the new shower door installation.

The new bathroom includes an Onyx Mousse mid-height pebbled shower pan with brushed nickel drain, Onyx Mousse shower wall panels in stone texture, a Liberty recessed caddy in the large back wall of the shower, Delta integrated diverter valve trim with shower head and wall-mounted hand shower in stainless, and a Quatro frameless heavy-glass single sliding barn-style shower door with brushed nickel hardware and DiamonFusion glass treatment.

This remodel gave the hallway bathroom a cleaner, more durable, and more updated shower area.

Hallway Bathroom Vanity and Storage

The hallway bathroom cabinetry continued the warm wood finish used throughout the project.

Wichita Home Works installed a 30-inch Koch Classic white oak vanity in Brown Sepia stain, a 15-inch linen cabinet with matching crown, and a 24-inch toilet topper with matching crown molding. The bathroom received red oak baseboard and door casing, stained to match existing trim.

The countertop was an Onyx Mousse top with a Mousse Venetian bowl and integrated 4-inch backsplash. Final details included a beveled vanity mirror, Delta Lahara towel ring, tissue holder and towel bar in stainless, and Rok brushed nickel cabinet pulls.

Master Bedroom Hallway Linen Closet

A custom hallway linen closet was built near the master bedroom hallway.

The scope included cutting back the baseboard for installation and custom building a red oak hallway linen closet approximately 40 inches wide, 93 inches tall, and 30 inches deep with a recessed panel door.

This added a practical storage feature while matching the warm wood direction of the rest of the remodel.

Finish Carpentry and Trim

Finish carpentry helped tie the remodel together.

In the kitchen, existing baseboard was reinstalled where possible, and cabinet-matching base shoe was installed around the new lower cabinets. In the laundry room and half bathroom, red oak baseboard and casing were installed where needed. The hallway bathroom also received red oak baseboard and casing.

Cabinet hardware was installed throughout the kitchen, laundry room, half bathroom, and hall bathroom using Rok brushed nickel pulls.

The combination of wood cabinetry, red oak trim, matching base shoe, crown molding, and brushed nickel hardware gives the remodel a cohesive finished appearance.

Project Timeline and Closeout

The project moved efficiently through production.

Closeout notes listed the project at 67 estimated days and 51 actual days, with permit status closed and professional photo and video completed. The project moved ahead through most phases of the process, with strong coordination around cabinet detail and job flow.

For the homeowner, that meant a multi-room remodel with kitchen, laundry, half bath, and hall bath work completed in a relatively efficient timeframe for the size of the scope.

Design and Finish Details

This project has a warm transitional style with classic wood cabinetry and updated surfaces.

The white oak cabinetry in Brown Sepia stain gives the kitchen, laundry room, and bathrooms warmth and texture. The Cambria New Quay quartz adds a lighter, polished surface that balances the wood tones. The Costa Clara Beach Sand glossy backsplash brings softness and movement through its vertical herringbone pattern.

The Timber Land Cognac LVP flooring continues the warm wood tone across the connected spaces. Brushed nickel and stainless fixtures keep the finishes clean and timeless. The custom red oak range hood, crown details, pantry rollouts, island storage, laundry shelf, and custom linen closet add a more tailored feel.

The overall look is updated but not overly modern. It is warm, practical, and cohesive, which makes Transitional the strongest style fit.

Construction Story

This remodel began with a wide connected scope: kitchen, dining area, hallway, laundry room, half bathroom, and hallway bathroom.

The first phase focused on protection and demolition. Appliances were moved, cabinets were removed, old flooring came out, backsplash drywall was removed, island framing was taken out, and bathroom fixtures and finishes were cleared so the home could be rebuilt with a more functional layout.

The kitchen transformation centered on cabinetry and storage. The new white oak cabinets, expanded island, pantry rollout storage, appliance garage, wine storage, custom red oak range hood, and improved lighting all worked together to make the kitchen more useful and more finished.

The laundry room and half bathroom were updated to match the kitchen rather than feeling separate. The same cabinet style, stain, quartz, flooring, and brushed nickel details helped the main level feel more connected.

The hallway bathroom brought in a slightly different material package with Onyx Mousse shower walls, a matching Onyx vanity top, white oak cabinetry, red oak trim, and a frameless sliding shower door. It still fits the overall remodel through the warm stain, brushed nickel hardware, and shared flooring.

The final stage focused on hardware, appliances, fixtures, shower glass, trim, touch-ups, photography, video, and closeout. The finished project created a more cohesive main-floor living experience, with the kitchen, laundry, half bath, and hall bathroom all upgraded together.
